About the Author Thomas R. Baechle, EdD, CSCS,*D; NSCA-CPT,*D, is the executive director of the National Strength fitness weight training and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certification Commission. He is the cofounder fitness weight training and past president of NSCA fitness weight training and its former director of education. In 1985 he was named the NSCA’s Strength fitness weight training and Conditioning Professional of the Year. Baechle is also the chair of the exercise science fitness weight training and athletic training department at Creighton University fitness weight training and the former exercise leader of their phase III cardiac rehabilitation program. He has received numerous awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the NSCA fitness weight training and the Excellence in Teaching Award from Creighton University. For 16 years, Baechle competed successfully in weightlifting fitness weight training and powerlifting, setting various Midwest records. For more than 20 years he coached collegiate powerlifting teams, strength-trained athletes, fitness weight training and taught weight training classes. Baechle was the force behind the creation of the CSCS fitness weight training and NSCA-CPT examinations that are offered through the NSCA Certification Commission. In addition to Fitness Weight Training, Baechle has authored 10 books that have been translated into 10 languages, including the popular Weight Training: Steps to Success. Roger Earle, MA, CSCS,*D; NSCA-CPT,*D, is the associate executive director fitness weight training and the director of exam development for the NSCA Certification Commission. He is responsible for reviewing fitness weight training and editing the CSCS fitness weight training and NSCA-CPT exams fitness weight training and writing study resources with Thomas Baechle, including the Essentials of Strength Training fitness weight training and Conditioning fitness weight training and NSCA’s Essentials of Personal Training texts. In addition, Earle has been a personal fitness trainer for people of all ages fitness weight training and fitness levels for nearly 20 years.
